Edith's dreams of retirement to the sun with her long-term suitor Phil are shattered when her 50-year-old son Roger arrives home, seeking to recapture his boyhood happiness.
With Edith and Phil’s sunset future in suspense, Phil’s beginning to despair of ever selling his house. Queenie talks him into an Open Day – but with ulterior motives.
After his disastrous Open Day, Phil has disappeared. As Edith searches for him, her difficult sister Joan invites herself to stay. Meanwhile Roger comes up with a new way to make money: by renting out his mother's spare room online, to two Americans.
